In the exhibition "Time Space Existence" related to the 2023 Venice Architecture Biennale, we designed a tea room using waste materials such as discarded pasta, coffee, paper tubes, and cork as building materials. Since materials other than cork are very vulnerable to water, we applied a waterproof treatment with natural ingredients by Silicagen to improve water repellency and weather resistance. We are conducting an exhibition and exposure test to contribute to SDGs and create a new future for building materials by maintaining outdoor weather resistance. Based on this result, we are considering sublimating food waste into something practical as a building material.

Based on the work concept of the beauty of the corrugated shape supporting the cardboard structure and the translucency when viewed from the cross-sectional direction, there was a demand for thin and translucent cardboard. However, bleached kraft paper cardboard had the problem that the cross-section would be crushed when cut, and the hexagonal column shape of stacked 60 sheets of cardboard could not be maintained. By applying the liquid agent, we not only achieved the beauty of the cross-section and translucency in line with the work concept but also obtained the strength necessary for long-term use as a product.
